Name: Kirsty King
Date of Birth: 21st October 1996
Nationality: British
Lived in: Whiteley, Hampshire UK
Currently residing in: Rochester Hill, MI, USA
Loves:
Travelling the world – Immersing myself in culture, foreign foods, meeting different people from different cultures, flying (not physically, in a plane!), hugging rabid animals.
Food: Trying new food, and finding out about the story behind each dish is one of my favourite things to do (avoiding mushrooms of course.) I love meeting a local who cooks a traditional delicacy, you can see the thrill and passion in their eyes as they cook. Finding someone like that is far and few between but when you discover them its the best feeling.
Music/Dance: Music is the same all over the world, different genres, different instruments. But at the end of the day the fundamentals are the same, just like dance. I love that I can portray a story to anyone, anywhere in the world; without so much as saying a word.
Is Indifferent About:
Home: Like everybody who has been away for a good amount of time, I do occasionally get homesick. However, I have no burning desire to ever return for an extended period of time. What kind of Supertramp gets homesick to the point of returning?!
Salmon: I don't even know what to say to you salmon, sometimes I'm just not feeling it with you. Sorry.
Hates To The Very Core:
Cost of flights: No plane ticket needs to $1500. I was born in this planet, let me see it, without having to take out a mortgage out please and thank you.Society: The 21st century society does my head in, technology and social media is what is going to destroy the human race. We live in a world where creativity and free thought are stifled in favour of becoming just a large part of the glorified workforce, as it's called. We criticize and look down on things which we do not understand, or have not experienced ourselves. Sex sells. Money makes the world go around. Just great.
Routine....enough said.
After reading Into The Wild and watching the movie,I was inspired by Chris McCandless’ journey and his reasons for leaving everything behind to become a vagabond and do what nobody has done before. Now, obviously my travels are by no means as extreme or as inspirational as his but one thing that I feel we both share, was the desire to discover ones self, for everything we ever knew turned out to be a lie. Wanderlust.
